CAMPUS SUMMARY
Founded in 1922, the college (then called Morgatown Commercial College) was located on High Street in Morgantown. Basic courses, such as typing, bookeeping, and business writing (with emphasis on penmanship)were taught.
Mr. Robert I. Burchinal, a Morgantown attorney, was president of the school from 1933-1958. During that time, the school's name was changed to Morgantown Business College, and was accredited by the American Association of Commercial Colleges circa 1952.
In 1958, Mr. Stephen A. Callen, a graduate of West Virginia University with a master's degree in Commercial Education, became the President of the Morgantown Business College. In 1968, the building in which the college presently occupies was constructed, and in 1972 the name was changed to West Virginia Career College. Since 1958, when the college offered only secretarial, medical secretarial, and junior accounting, the curriculm has expanded to meet the needs of area employers. In 1998, the college was reclassified, and its name was changed to West Virginia Junior College @ Morgantown.
