Application Instructions
- Complete this online application. After you are finished, click the 'SUBMIT' button located on the left column of the application and follow the directions.
- Print the application agreement statement that appears after you submit the completed online application and send a signed copy to the campus nearest you (New Martinsville, Weirton, or Wheeling) or to the address below.
- There is no application fee.
General Admission Policy
West Virginia Northern Community College subscribes to an "open door" admissions policy. The college admits as a "regular" student anyone who has a high school diploma or its equivalent, and as a "special" student anyone else who can benefit from college instruction.
Admission Procedures
The following items are to be submitted by degree and certificate seeking students:
- This online application
- High school transcript and/or GED scores*
- Home-schooled**
- International Students***
- Course placement scores, if required
- Official transcripts from all postsecondary educational institutions previously attended, sent directly from the registrar's office of the previous institution or institutions.
- If born after January 1, 1957, first-time applicants who plan to be full-time students must submit proof of immunization for rubella and measles.

Applicants who graduated from high school or passed their GED more than five (5) years prior to admission and/or have earned 30 or more semester hours of credit at a regionally accredited institution are exempt from this requirement.

Admitted as full-time students, must demonstrate satisfactory command of English language, evidence of sufficient support funds, and meet standard expectations of the U.S. Immigration Office.
Additional Information
Transfer Students
Students who have attended any other postsecondary institution must have an official transcript sent to the West Virginia Northern Community College Admissions Office from each previously attended college along with a statement of his/her eligibility to return to that institution.
Limited Enrollment Programs
Health Science programs have limited enrollment and candidates must submit a special application and service fee. All appropriate records from highs school, previous colleges, and course testing results must be received in the Admissions Office before the application is reviewed. Early application is highly recommended. Students who plan on beginning classes in August should apply between October 1 and March 1. Students who plan on beginning classes in January should apply between October 1 and December 1.
Financial Aid
A number of financial aid programs can assist students in meeting the expenses of attending West Virginia Northern Community College.
Awards are made on the basis of need and/or scholastic achievement.
Applications and materials may be obtained from the college.
Early application is recommended.
Veterans
Veterans planning to receive their Veteran Educational Benefits should contact the West Virginia Northern Community College Veteran Affairs Office to complete the necessary paperwork.
Selective Service
All male students under age 26 must be in compliance with the Military Selective Services Act.

If you are a transient student, enrolled in a degree program at another college, and would like to take a class at WVNCC to transfer back to your home school please click here for the appropriate application.

Health Science application for limited enrollment programs of Nursing, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology (AAS or CP) and Health Information Technology need to print, complete and return to the college the application in addition to completing a regular Degree Seeking application. How to Use the West Virginia Northern Community College Online Application
|
To complete the online application, simply type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from
the popup lists (where applicable).
After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left
column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current
screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct
your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to
skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function
on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be re-entered prior to submittal.
Once you have completed the application, click the 'SUBMIT' button located on the left column to submit the
application.
