Early Decision Plan
First-time freshmen may submit an application for early decision any time after the junior year of high school, but all required information (application, transcript and test scores) must be received by the Office of Admission before December 1. Students who have decided that West Virginia Wesleyan is their choice are encouraged to apply for early decision.
Benefits to being accepted under the early decision plan:
- Priority status for housing and class registration
- An early financial aid estimate
- An IBM ThinkPad laptop computer will be sent to you on July 1
An early decision agreement is required with the application for admission. This is a binding agreement that you will enroll at West Virginia Wesleyan College if accepted. Accepted early decision students will agree to withdraw applications from all other colleges and submit a nonrefundable $200 deposit to West Virginia Wesleyan College by January 31.
You must complete the early decision agreement on the application and select the early admission option under student type on the application information page.
Admission Policy
Admission to West Virginia Wesleyan College is selective. Many factors influence the admission decision. The most important factor in the admission decision is your high school record (course load and grades attained), followed by SAT I or ACT scores, your character and record of leadership, service to the community, extracurricular activities, recommendations, and class rank if available. Campus interviews are strongly encouraged and may be required in some cases.
Academic Requirements
You are encouraged to pursue a challenging college preparatory program throughout your four years of high school. We require the following selection of courses:
- English: 4 units
- Math: 3 or more units (algebra I, II and geometry required)
- Science: 3 or more units (including 1 lab science)
- Social studies: 3 or more units
- Foreign languages: We strongly recommend 2 or more units.
Financial Planning Information
West Virginia Wesleyan College requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for applicants who wish to receive need-based financial assistance. This form is available in your high school guidance office or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and should be submitted as soon after January 1 as possible. In order for Wesleyan to receive you information, you must include our Federal School Code of 003830. You do not need to be accepted to Wesleyan to apply for financial assistance. For best consideration and satisfaction of various state grant deadlines, the FAFSA should be filed by February 15. A few scholarships at Wesleyan also require separate applications. It is your responsibility to contact the Office of Admission for these forms and deadlines at (800) 722-9933 or by e-mail at admission@wvwc.edu.
